Remember what websites used to look like back in the mid nineties? The days of yahoo and geocities? Well it may surprise some people that there is a trend to revive the aesthetics of that era of webdesign and it is called brutalism.
This trend parts ways with the customary rules of UX design such as usability and legibility. Brutalism can be describes as a retroish trend in webdesign that is purposefully chaotic, free and raw.
Awwwards further decribes brutalism and says: "We can find an excessive abundance of Hover effects, System Fonts, Web Safe Colors, Hero Typography, Micro-Interactions, Pop Culture Icons and Images in the weirdest and most uncomfortable of places." While this trend may not be everybody's cup of tea, we present you with some examples of Brutalist Websites. Many others can be seen at www.brutalistwebsites.com
